Hokkaido Custom Tour.

Niseko and Hokkaido your way

If the dates for our group travel option don’t work for you or wish to customize your stay this option is for you.

Essentially we can create a package that suits your needs that may be a guided tour on dates other than exciting group tours, a self drive tour were we give you directions, just managing your accommodation and transport or a combination of all of the above.

Below is some suggested options but your welcome to add your own and we come up with bespoke option for you.

If you are SOFA status and seeking nature and adventure your way in Hokkaido then this option is made for you.

Brief overview

Day 1 is arrival at your Holiday Niseko Accodation in Hirafu, the main tourist town in the Niseko area located at the base of the ski lifts.

Day 2 is a trip out Lake Toya and a ferry ride across to the island with a lunch provided on us. Next we do a tour of the volcanic museum that depicts the eruption of Mount Usu an active volcano that last erupted in March 31st 2001.

It’s hard to capture the deep clear blues of Lake Toya with either photo or language but perhaps the easiest option is just to see it for yourself. Formed out of the remnants of an old volcano and surrounded by one that’s still a little active you quickly realise you are in a very special space.

The water here can be very cold with the lake having average depths of 117 metres with it’s deepest point being 180 metres but many brave Hokkaido locals still see it as a great chance to cool of the summers.

Day 3 Would be a good day for adventure. Some suggestions below

  1. White water rafting the Sheribesu river that captures the snow melt from the mighty Mount Yotei
  2. An adventure hike over the volcanic range above Niseko with a summit of Iwarunpuri.
  3. A guided 18 hole golf day tour at the famous Hanzono course with optional club rental
  4. Fly fishing with Hugo from Niseko fly fishing ( limit first 3 enrollments )
  5. Relax in a mountain top mud onsen.

Please note that these options are not included in the base price and do incur an extra charge.

Day 4 Is a breathtaking coastal drive up to to Shakotan penisula

Added to this is a tour of the Nikka whiskey distillery where you can learn about the art of Japanese whiskey making and how Nikka managed to win the ” worlds best blended malt whiskey” for 4 years running as well as many other awards .

You can also sample some of the fine whiskeys yourself made right here in Yochi.

Day 5 is stunning drive back out to New Chitose airport where you can see the summit of mount Yotei, Resutsu and Lake shikotsu before returning to the New Chitose Airport.

Accommodation Options

For this trip we will be using alpine Condo’s managed by Holiday Niseko which thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic we have been able to book at record low prices.

These apartments are all located right in the heart of Hirafu which is a short stroll to many restaurants and cafes as well as the site of the 2021 Niseko food festival.

We have elected to supply 2 offerings

  1. Standard Condo An example of standard Condo is shown belowhttps://holidayniseko.com/avalon
  2. Premium Condo

An example of a premium Condo is shown below

https://holidayniseko.com/shiki-and-koyuki

Both the above options are fully furnished apartments the difference being the amount of luxury and square meterage on offer. Some are 2 bedroom, some 3 and some 4 bedroom and require a minimum number of guests.

We feel your best option would be team up with some friends and try and rent out the the larger apartments as they usually come with a higher level of luxury.

If you are travelling with group we suggest you complete the process under one booking or if you would like to book and pay separately please send us an email with your plans and we will do our best to meet the needs of your group.

If you are travelling individually we can assist you with your sharing accommodation preferences.

If you have a specific request about your accommodation needs we would suggest having a chat to the friendly English speaking ( well New Zealand anyway ) staff at holiday Niseko

Adventure Options

Some Suggested options are below

1.. Golf day with the lads from Holiday Niseko

Rhythm Niseko live and breath adventure and have been conducting bike rentals and downhill tours since the Niseko mountain biking scene began. Whilst it’s not yet as developed as Whistler or Queenstown Mountain biking in Niseko is starting to attract world wide attention for it’s new single trails and breathtaking views.

3. Adventure hike up  Iwarunpuri.

This is an extinct volcano that is one of the highest peaks in the Niseko area and offers 360 views of the area and also some views of some amazing natural onsens. A great introduction to the Summit’s of the Niseko area and whilst a little steep still accessible by those with moderate fitness and won’t leave you hurting for days like it’s big brother Yotei.

You can choose which adventure activity suits you best when you complete the enrollment and the cost of these are included in your package price.

4. Fly fishing with Hugo from

We are blessed with amazing fishing around Niseko and in our opinion fly fishing is fishing to its finest! Hokkaido has some of the best freshwater sport fishing in the world.

With crystal clear rivers fed by alpine snow melt this is an experience to remember. This half day tour is led by Niseko’s grandmaster of fly fishing Hugo Tremolo.

Hugo is the founder of Niseko Flyfishing and Tenkara. His love of the outdoors and travels brought him to Niseko a few years ago and he has loved every second of it and he has spent a quite a few seasons here finding the best secret spots.

Come try your luck, discover a new sport or improve the skills you already have. from beginner to expert we will adapt to your skills and will try our best to make you live the highlight of your summer!

Please note that Hugo wishes to provide full attention to his clients and also not overload the rivers so we have limited this option to the first 3 enrollments only so if fishing is your thing get in fast !

5.

5. Relax in Niseko

This option is designed to take the stress out of relaxing in Niseko !

We will pick you up from your accommodation and take you up to the amazing ” mud onsen” known as Yukichichibu which is rich in sulphur and iron and in our opinion is Niseko’s best traditional onsen.

From here we have a group lunch on us at a great local restaurant Ichy Ichy and then it’s onto Niseko’s oldest dairy farm ” Milk Kobo ” where you can purchase freshly made cheeses and some of Niseko’s best ice cream.

For those with energy after this we may unwind as a group in a local bar. ( price of drinks not included in this package ). If you going to do an health and wellness retreat, you should do it with Gin.

* Please not that tattoos are prohibited in traditional Japanese onsens.

All we ask is if our service exceeded your expectations please tell your friends or leave a positive google review.

Niseko is a ski resort located about 2 hours drive from the New Chitose Airport and the city of Sapporo

There are 2 convenience stores located in Hirafu that a surprisingly good range of products. For larger famlies and mulitple self-catering stays its worth heading to Kutchan which is the largest town in the area and has 3 supermarkets. Max Value is the easiest to find and is on the left hand side as you enter the town when heading from Hirafu

There is an English speaking Doctor located at the Niseko international clinic in Hirafu but the largest hospital is based in Kutchan. For moderate to serious injuries it's best to head straight to Kutchan Hospital
